Agenda for Practice

This will be the Agenda thread. If you want something covered, you can comment here. Keep this thread strictly to topics to cover, discussion should happen in other threads.
The Format:

  • Upcoming events, trials, weapons/garb sessions
  • Rules issues/changes, tabard winners from the previous week, other recognitions
  • Unit announcements (recruiting, leadership change, promotions - this could really help people to see the units more and encourage forming their own or joining)
  • Q&A from everyone

I'd like a reminder announcement this week (10/6/10) about waivers: their importance, getting them filled out, and getting them returned, etc.

***EDIT***

From the "Waiver Compliance" thread:

Isk wrote:
we can tell people coming back that if your name isn't on this list, you don't play tonight without a signed release form.

I think that enforcement of this should be announced as well. We'll get a lot more waivers or a lot less juveniles being dropped off for babysitting. Either way we win.

*** EDIT EDIT ***
I also would like to perform a hands-on weapons check and a heralding review for educational and safety purposes. The heralding can actually take place the next week if its something we want to do, but I believe that if we conduct the weapons check and teach everyone how to do it then we will have adequate time to make necessary fixes before Samhain, which is only 9 days from the practice date.

  1. Events:
    • Tabard Trial tonight. All supplicants present garb and weapons immediately following announcements and then we'll administer the test and combat trials.
    • Samhain in 1 1/2 weeks (woot!) Oct.16th
    • Vegas Border War 13th November
  2. Rules and Award Announcements:
    • New rules shift, Now 1h Green Damage == 1h Blue Damage
    • Complete a release form/waiver. If your name is not on the list of uploaded waivers and this is not your first week, you provide a waiver or you can't fight.
  3. Unit announcements
  4. Q&A from everyone - should we schedule weapons building?

Edit: Tibby, editing your post so as not to clutter this thread is a great idea. I am not sure what you mean with heralding review and do you propose to check every weapon brought to practice? We could do that, but we'll have our hands pretty full with the Tabard Trial. . .

Surt's death should be announced, I would also like to suggest the Realm wear some kind of sash / bandanna / arm band to show solidarity with Barad'dun until the case is resolved / murderers caught.

I'm thinking something black with "Surt" or "Barad'dun" or other similar, simple design.

I like the arm/headband solidarity idea. I will be unable to attend tomorrow. According to the charter that leaves our esteemed realm secretary to conduct business and make announcements. I have posted what I believe is an appropriate agenda for you.

10/XI 2010

  1. Events:
    • Weapons Building was very successful for those who came
    • Vegas Border War is canceled. Announce Surt's death.
    • Tabard Trial in three weeks, get ready
  2. Rules and Award Announcements:
    • Still testing 1h Green Damage == 1h Blue Damage
    • Complete a release form/waiver. If your name is not on the list of uploaded waivers and this is not your first week, you provide a waiver or you can't fight.

Blue foam is waterproof and I have never had any problems when my weapons get wet but it might be different if you use tape.

I haven't waterproofed my gear before; but I'm really not out in the rain that much. If I were going to be at an event that was going to be soaked I probably would consider scotchguarding my stuff. However since I go home right after practice and wash/dry my garb immediately, i don't have a need for it.

Did you weatherproof your yurt?

The thing to watch out for with gear getting wet is mold/mildew. Make sure and store it somewhere dry after the fighting is over and it should be alright. Scotchguarding your clothing (especially cloaks and outer layers) might help keep you more dry.

The Yurt is waterproofed, the roof canopy anyhow. I also guarded unexpectantly a pull on cap a levi jacket a portion of my shirt collar and my hands as I sprayed the roof whilest standing under it, no laughing too hard gentleman, it's been almost 4 years since the last time my day to day life required me to spray anything above my head.:)

I also waterproofed the tips of my arrows and had and will continue to pull my bow regardless of weather conditions.:)gotta love that.

New Camera, would simply enjoy getting candids during a practice, and even setting a daylight time to get footage for a promotional video I have been challenged by a realm from Oregon to produce. This is voluntary by far and compensation I suppose would be as a participant and general rights to use as a personal promo should a volunteer decide. Please PM for daylight set up.

Per Realm Leaders instruction anymore comments for what should be covered at practice I'll put here also. Let me know how many of ya would be interested in a garb clinic the first week of April, just in time for Fools Raid. I'm considering the Buxton Tunic and a few variations for the tunic, let me know if ya are interested here on this thread and we can set a time. The tunic usually takes about an hour and half total construction time.
