Anviling

Isk went out to the Bel Boards and got the skinny on how the rest of the game interprets the rules pertaining to anviling:

Book of War wrote:
3.7.3. Blocking a Weapon strike by laying a Weapon against a Target Area and/or Shield is illegal.
3.7.4. Sheathed or otherwise worn Weapons cannot block attacks.

The consensus is:

  • If you (un)intentionally lay your weapon against your body or shield and block a strike with it then you are anviling and the shot counts. SUFFICIENT FORCE NOT REQUIRED
  • If you try to block a shot with your weapon and any part of your weapon gets pushed against your body or shield while the enemy's weapon is touching yours, then you are anviling and the shot counts. SUFFICIENT FORCE REQUIRED
  • If you try to block a shot with your weapon and any part of your weapon gets pushed against your body or shield and there is no contact still between your weapon and the enemy's, then you are anviling and the shot counts. SUFFICIENT FORCE REQUIRED

So there it is, clear as a bell. Heralds will enforce this at practice.

Actually, in my rush to post something in the time my trainee at work was using the bathroom (thus allowing me to use the internet since I didn't have to pay 100% attention to her) I made a mistake.

The last point

Quote:

should actually read:

"If you try to block a shot with your weapon and your blade gets pushed against your body or shield while there is no contact still between your weapon and the enemy's, then this is NOT anviling, however if there is sufficient force, then you should take the hit as appropriate."

Sorry for the miscommunication.
