King's Tournament - Barad'dun Las Vegas, NV - November 4th - 6th

It is official!

Barad'dun is hosting their first event.

What: King's Tournament
When: 0700 Friday Nov 4th - 1200 Sunday Nov 6th, 2011
Where: Petrack Park, Pahrump
Cost: $15 w/ Pre-reg; $20 @ Troll
***Apparently, feast is being run separately from the fighting and the ball is in Smithy's court. THERE MAY BE A SEPARATE ADDITIONAL FEE FOR FOOD. If they get it el-cheapo, then it will probably be included in Troll.***

Rules: DAGORHIR MANUAL OF ARMS
(Make your weapons accordingly!)

The event will be in honor of our former King and Adunakhor, Surt.

As the schedule for the event is still in the works the basis is open field battles, unit fights, realm fights, scenarios, and weapon tournaments with prizes. Some of our fellow guilds in town want to come and camp as well and will be doing there own things that weekend as well.

There will also be a remembrance held Saturday night for Surt, honoring him and his dedication to this game we love.

A feast will be provided but is on a per person basis and will be kept separate from the entry fee. Our Shepherd, Smithy will be hosting the Feasting Hall. Cost is TBD.

Let's get time off and do this. They're our neighbors, our good friends, and this is as close to "local" as you get in our sport out here in the wild, wild, west. Pahrump is west of Vegas near California. This will be a really good opportunity to meet the Fruits and Nuts from out there, and show them how we do things in Utah - although this is a DAG event and we'll probably meet a lot of people we've never seen before.

Sounds like its going to be a very interesting time.

I'd be really nervous of visiting any casino in Pahrump. . .

This should be a really good time. I hope they are able to pull it together.

Some additional information:

Here are some of the questions I already asked of Knubbs and gotten answers for:

1. I noticed in the google earth pic of the park it is square and covered in grass. Where are we camping? On the grass or are there designated campsites? In other words is it first come first server or can I actually form a camp with my unit?

Our main camping area is 150ft x 275ft (the soccer field). We will be setting up 25x25ft blocks for every 8 people in a unit or realm. I will have the map complete for the site before this saturday and you will be able to pick since you paid already.

2. Are there toilets?

Yes, we have 2 sets of Permanent toilets on site available to us. They are a next to the pool and Baseball field. We also have showers but you might want to wear trunks or your swimming attire to use. Think gym Showers.

3. Are dogs allowed?

Yes, must be on a leash and of course clean up after them.

4. If designated campsites then they must have BBQ grills or firepits and tables, if not, what are the rules concerning fire? Firerings on grass?

They do not have designated campsites but your areas will allow you setup fires and other such stuff. Fire rules are fairly simple you have to have the fire in a firepit, 18" off the ground. If you plan on having a fire you need a Fire Extinguisher within 15'-20' of the fire.

5. I assume Barad'Dun does not have to provide waivers since we have them on file, if not, then those between the ages of 16 and 17 will have to be notified to get some and get them notorized well before they show up in pahrump.

Wolf will be going to the event. He is a Notary and offered his services. We will have slightly different waivers for this event mainly because of the insurance. People will fill them out at the site were I will keep them on file.

The parking area is directly across the soccer field in the dirt lot. They are allowing you to drive up to the camp spot to offload, then go park.

Feast Menu: ADDITIONAL FEE OF $20 FOR FEAST

Smithy wrote:
The menu being served at the tourney is. . . . . .

Roast Pig.

Kilirri Lizard Cut served with sweet potatoes and mixed vegetables.
This is actually a chicken breast marinaded in a curacco liqueur with crushed garlic and spiced cloves. It is cooked through and covered with a blue lemon sauce. It's then served beside mashed sweet potatoes and mixed vegetables.

Poached Pears in a Rasberry Sauce
Cored pears that have been cored and cooked, then set to rest in a rasberry sauce.

Spiced and Mulled Wine and warmed and spiced hard Cider for those over the age of 21, and warmed spiced apple juice for those under the age of 21.

Though it sounds delicious, I will not be eating feast for an additional $20. There's no need for it and its beyond ridiculous. If you would like to shell out the dough for it then by all means please enjoy yourself. I will either be running out to town for pizza or something else delicious like $10 prime rib at a casino.

It's $5 for the feast. I don't agree with there being an extra cost for feast either, but I have not been in any of the loops of those who have planned and arranged for this event.

I just saw that $5 fee.....I could have sworn I saw $20 somewhere.

That's quite a difference, but I'm still not paying for it. Thanks for clarifying Konradr.

Just a reminder, we are meeting at 5pm at the park. I will be a little bit later, but get there as close to 5 as I can manage and we'll go straight to the event. Gas will probably be $15/person. Pre-reg is still open if you haven't done it yet.

Bear has also asked that you bring a tear drop for him to use as well.

Right now, Isk, Tibby, Seraf, and Bear will be going. Still waiting to hear from Bill.

Pack light guys.

This was a fun time. Good fighting, good tournaments. Ok feast. Cold weather.

It was a good thing we didn't camp. Barad'dun extends their love and hopes more of us will make it out next time.

I hope more of us will make it out next time.

Thanks to Isk for driving, and Bear and Seraf for representing the Realm well!

Thank you to one and all who came to King's tourney. It was good to see and socialize with you, oh and to kill and maim you over and over, and vice versa, is always a blast. One caveat, when you are so few in numbers, and with no camp of your own please accept this as an eternal invitation to join us at Wolf Camp and sit around a fire to eat and chat.

Sincerely,

Konradr Greywolf
