This is an outstanding idea, and I want to encourage anyone who cannot or was not planning to attend Samhain to consider this opportunity to get in with some good people and be on the operating side of a Ren Faire.

Vegas isn't too far away and I know Barad'dun was planning to also attend this event as well since its in their backyard and many of them cannot afford to attend Samhain. Scottsman and Patchiz will be our go-to people for this, so please consider showing presence if not for the great time you'll have but as a courtesy to friends of our family.

We'll organize car pooling at practice on Wednesday.

Scottsman, please be sure to extend my personal condolences for not being able to attend since I will be representing the Realm at Samhain, and my sincere gratitude for the extension of friendship towards our Realm.

Last year the 'Las Vegas Rennfair association' and chiefly the SCA Kingdom of Seraphin Isles, hosted a small contingent of us and allowed us to camp with them and to fight Dagorhir inside the demo eric they had set up. I believe 'HammerHeim' a norse group camped with them as well.

I'm not sure if the same set up is being offered this year as those who worked out the details last year "Surt, Smithy and Knubbs" Smithy and Knubbs are working on our event and have not posted anything about it. No one else has contacts with the group. Surely some of our people will be attending the Rennfair as I too would like to do if money is not an issue.

I will let you know if I hear anything on a Barad'Dun prescence in the camp.

In regards to diplomacy I'm unable to completely reveal the causation as to the desicion made for Hamarr Heim to seek seperate encampment from The Seraphine Isle Monarchy. Hamarr Heim is a Viking reinactment/Asatru family.

As all of ya are aware Brian and me (grammar..lol) began our journey with Hamarr Heim and as a member elect I have a duty to the family of Hamarr Heim first.

The former Jarl(pronounced Yarl)Bjarki Magnusson sent me this message;

I've given the address' of Serphine to familiarize our warriors with the various character and titles of the "advisaries". Photo's are evar so helpful when your guarding a camp.

In direct response,yes.Silgulfr(Tony) made a bunch of noise, perhaps character play or real personality, I'm not exactly sure as all of my interactions have been during "theatre". I'm told he is an Elder in the Asatru Family and as such has the power via state authority to preform marriages, aka "Hand Fasting".

Yes he 'freaked out' on your visit and a few times before. He apparently is a war vet(?) was wounded via an explosion that sent nasty things into his body and head. Everytime he got his bell rung playing with us he went to "That bad place" (PSDS?) But still that was never an excuse in my book for how he acted and the things he said. After the flair up when you guys visited he said he couldn't fight with us in our style anymore. From what I understand he fights pretty rough in SCA too but at least he has steel protecting his damaged noodle.

Ok, that's what I thought.

We'll want to be careful in our dealings then if we're going to camp with Hammar Heim. Don't want any theatrics and RP to turn nasty. Seems like it may have if Jarl Magnusson had a "parting of ways", which is disappointing.

Does Hammar Heim have a facebook? I try googling them but don't get anything.

so yeah....for those who have not learned always tell your wife what is going on before asking her opinion on what to do....

I woke up this morning and after my wife read Tibby's post about his hand she wanted to know what happened. I explained and told her Tibby probably won't be going to Salt Lake. She of course has been trying to push me to go to Salt Lake so she could go too :-p I think told her that Tibby might be going to Las Vegas instead...she then asked what was in Las Vegas (<---the part that i should have told her earlier.) I explained that we were invited to participate in the Las Vegas Ren Fair. (This was followed by giddy school girl excitement). I was then TOLD I would be going to Vegas, not Salt Lake :-p She apparently has some bellydance friends from Vegas that might be there, as well as she has always wanted to go to it.

So like I said always make sure your wife know what is going on everywhere....

That being said, we will probably be only going down for 1 day (not staying over night.) And I probably will not be participating due to the fact my garb sucks(non-existing). If I get some decent garb together by the time the event rolls round I may participate. We will see....

That reminds me, the next time the wife's in a good mood, I need to bring up the fact that I want to go the "Battle of the Ring" in Cali in January. Thx Khalon.

I got a note from Brian, but was unable to reply as the system said his account was unavailable for some reason.

"So please pass on to him the budget depends on the number of people. Give me a head count and a price and I'll take it to the guild for final approval. Figure transportation and food, there will be a kitchen but no Salt Mistress to supervise it. We're figuring on stews in the evenings, as a couple of the gals are prepping them in advance. Coffee and a pallet of muffins and fruit for breakfasts. Catch lunch on our own. Since we'll add the prices of purchased lunches into your contract, IF you wished you could use that money instead to buy food to prepair your own lunches and use the excess in some other way :-) Just a thought. Wow, they're not kidding about paying us.

Hmmm, well the gentleman in me says that they don't need to pay for gas if they're covering event fee, food, and a place to sleep for the night. I like that they'll provide breakfast and dinner.

I will also offer to be the "salt mistress" since my hand is jacked. If they've got gear and food, I can cook it. If they insist on paying us, like that "extra" suggests, let's keep our expenses really cheap and put that money towards the WoR location.

At this moment I will be going for one day, but I am not sure if I am going to participate or if I will be just there as an audience. It will depend on if I get some garb together. I will let you know if I get it together, but either way, (if I am understanding it correctly) I don't expect them to pay for my way down (though the event fee would be nice if I participate). If I get my garb together Karimah said that she will be dressing in her bellydance outfit. I will let you know if I do get my garb together though.

Wife had made plans to visit a friend with the kids in SLC on this weekend and it would upset her to not go up north. Here I was tying to be practical :-P

This means I'll be going up to check weapons and herald; still no fighting. Unfortunately, our vehicle will be full since we're travelling with the kids and car seats.

Well...this just isn't my week. I was just informed that I might be getting laid off. So I need to pinch my money where I can for now. So as a result I will not be going down to Vegas this weekend.
