Alright its time to bring everyone up to speed.
As Isk stated earlier we had discussed about how the documentary has turned out. While I have to give them a koodos for trying to make us look good, I have to say I would not use their video for recruitment. Reason being is they needed to get a good grade and as a result they could not include any of the footage explaining the sport. Some of the footage used as well is a little bit controversial when it comes to recruitment. Again they did what they could with the time they had and I give them props for that.
With all that being said me and Isk have decided that it would be in our best interest to make our own documentary. I have not had a chance to get a hold of Nate, the director of the Dixie documentary, but I know he wanted to work with me on this. I have also contacted two of my crew memebers already and they are on board when it comes time to shoot. For those who don't know I have alot of film background. I graduated from the New York Film Academy in Los Angelos, I love saying that cause it so confusing :P, where I got to work on Universal Studios lots. I have also been shooting various performances, video tours, and short films since 2000.
I have told Isk that by taking on this project I plan on doing it 100% professionaly. So it will take some time before we even begin shooting, probably around August or September is my thought. I plan on spending atleast a month writing the script. Yes thats right documentaries have scripts. For those that will be interviewed you will recieve a list of the questions that will be asked of you before you are on camera. This will give you a chance to formulate you answers and be able to present the answers without studdering or stumbling. This will also not be shot in just a couple of weeks. To get the shots that I will want it will take several months and even some Saturdays.
The crew that I will be pulling together all have some background in film as well whether it be short films or videography. But that doesn't mean that we won't take additional help. For those who are interested in helping with the film other than being filmed, i.e. crew, please let me know and I will find you something to do. All of the equipment that we will be using will be professional equipment as well. We currently have two cameras, a Cannon XL2 and an XL-1s, these cameras are priced between $2k-$4k. So when we are shooting I ask that everyone please be careful around them. We will also have some lighting equipment and we are hoping to have some professional sound equipment, but we will see what happens.
Anyways just giving everyone a heads up on what is to come.
