Our 2nd closest neighbors, and good eggs all, are hosting their annual event. The site is worth the trip, but its a good driving distance out. Small cars can do it round trip for about $80 as evidenced 2 years ago with my mother-in-law's subaru wagon. My truck can go up to about $200+
Car pooling should be our main priority after GETTING PEOPLE TO GO
As a Realm, we really need to start showing up to events more. The entire reason we practice on Wednesdays is to be prepared for events. Fighting at a single event increases your fighting skill and field awareness at an equivalence of about 2-3 months of practice. Not only do you get to fight huge numbers, but you get to meet people, see different fighting and garb styles, and hang out with like-minded people and have a good time.
Attending events will get our Realm recognition, be it good or bad, based upon our individual honor and the fact that we contribute to the game at-large. It enriches the game as a whole and our own experiences that we can bring back and teach new folks.
That said, I want as many people as possible to start saving your money (don't eat out once a week as an example) and get your time off work. Our realm has a pretty terrible attendance record for events and I'd like to see that change. It will show that our Realm is serious about growing and being established within the game at the National level and will give credibility to our leaders in national discussions. There is no credible reason that at this point in time, with this much advance warning and barring any emergencies, that any of us should not be able to attend this event. There is plenty of car space. The major issue will be planning ahead to save cash. This has been the straw that has broken the camel's back multiple times, and there's no reason for it.
See you on the field!
